Wednesdays in Lent: Soup, Study & Sacrament
(6:15 PM- Simple Supper, 7:15 PM- Prayers & Eucharist)

Living the Questions: A Portrait of Jesus
What do you really believe about Jesus, the man, the prophet, and the founder of a movement? This six-week course will explore the pre-Easter Jesus and the post-Easter Jesus through the writings and teachings of theologian Marcus Borg. Borg calls himself a "metaphorical Christian", and he uses a variety of lenses to examine the significance of Jesus' life and teachings. If you've ever struggled to reconcile your intellect with your faith, this course will help you live the questions. We will explore a variety of ways to look at Jesus life and teachings, and then, through discussion and reflection, examine the meaning of Jesus' teachings in our own lives.

Kids are welcome and expected for the next several weeks. After having a chance to have soup, bread and cheese with us, all kids will meet in the new room to watch Prince of Egypt for discussion, then rejoin the group for worship at 7:15 PM.

Meets: February 24, March 3, March 10, March 17, March 24, and March 31
Facilitator: Linda Sterthous

Please make Wednesday evenings a part of your Lenten journey.

Thursdays in Lent
10 am Bible Study with the Priest:
Several parishioners have requested a morning bible study class during lent. We will look for you in the St. Asaph's room in the new wing.

12 noon Brown bag lunch with the Priest and some Marcus Borg:
Are you unable to attend Wednesday evenings with Linda Sterthous? Do you wish there was an opportunity to ask some serious questions about your faith in a simpler context? For the five Thursdays of Lent, beginning March 4 (Feb 25 session cancelled due to weather), come at noon with a bag lunch. Some of the local business folks have requested a Lenten discussion and will be joining us as well. We will be in and out in under the hour. Questions? Call the office-610-664-0966 or send an e-mail to Church Office

We will meet at St. Asaph's at 8:00 am, and then carpool to the SHARE warehouse, where we will work from 9-12. Following our work day will be a pizza lunch, most likely at St. A's. All are welcome to volunteer (students should be older than 10). Please note: it is important that you dress
appropriately for a warehouse- dress warmly, wear sturdy footwear.

If you are interested in participating in this program please contact Janet Barrett. Rite 13 Students can sign up with Steve Sheeran. We would like to have a final count by next Saturday, 3/13. For more information about the SHARE program talk to Bob Ranando who works at SHARE, and has helped orchestrate this event.

Line Dancing
Beginning Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 8 pm and on
every Thursday thereafter, come alone or bring your
partner, bring your friends, your family, or your kids for
instructor-led Soul/Line Dancing at St. Asaph's. It's
FREE. It's good exercise. It's intergenerational. It's just
plain informal and casual. Email Wendy Flegal for more information.

Parking
We are growing! And this means that some Sundays, parking is in short supply. If you are able-bodied, please consider parking in the spaces at the shopping center next to the wall of the church property and using the path to the church so that we can save the church parking lot spaces for those for who walking is more difficult. Thanks!

Prayer Group
Meetings are scheduled for the first and third Wednesdays (monthly) from 7:30 to 8:30 pm in the church. For further information, please contact Mary Chris Lindsay.

If you have something that you would like to have printed in the The Outlook, please check with Connie Stelzenmuller before emailing any submissions to confirm there is still room for placement to stelzen@verizon.net.

North Light Community Center
Hunger continues to deepen, and presents a particular challenge during the winter months when heating costs rise. Please don't forget to bring nonperishable items for donation to the North Light food cupboard. Renee Banson, Mary Chris Lindsay and Liz Silbaugh will make the deliveries on the 2nd 4th and 5th Sundays.

ELDERNET of Lower Merion and Narberth
Hunger knows no boundaries. Eldernet of Lower
Merion and Narberth provides a range of services to
those in need living within Lower Merion Township. Now
that the holidays are over, their food cupboard is bare.
On the first and third Sundays, we will collect
nonperishable foods, paper products, cleaning supplies
and other dry goods not covered by food stamps to help
stock the Eldernet food cupboard, located in the white
building that shares the parking lot with Ludington
Library. Jane Carton, Nicky Garvan and Connie
Stelzenmuller will make the deliveries.

"Provide-a-Ride"
Provide-a-Ride is in need of one or two more drivers to assist in driving members to church who otherwise would be unable to attend. This is a very flexible commitment involving 30 - 45 minutes of your time once a month. While you would be committed to a particular Sunday morning for driving, i.e. 3rd Sunday of each month, drivers "trade" Sundays as they need to, and alternates are available. The current riders are very prompt and very grateful, and live within 5 minutes of each other, so the driving time is minimal. If you feel able to participate in this project, please contact by email Sally Pearne or 215-848-4014. (It should also be noted there are no committee meetings for this service opportunity!)
