Joining Us This Sunday...
We welcome back Rev. Richard Stewart who will be presiding with us this Sunday, July 25th.
SOAL
Summers On Asaph's Lawn continues on our campus on Thursday: July 22, and the final one of the series will be September 22. Hot dogs will be provided along with the popcorn and a movie. Also, the grill will be fired up so if you have anything you'd like to bring or have grilled, feel free. Join us at 6:30 for a hot dog or bring your own dinner out on the lawn in the circle. At 7:00 pm we will move to our newly painted and cleaned up space in the basement with a new giant screen where it will be nice and dark and cool and not raining for our movie. The Fantastic Mr. Fox will be showing tonight. Bring a comfortable lawn chair to enjoy the evening.
Summer Services at St. Asaph
A garden mass beginning at 9:15 AM on the labyrinth. Adult Formation for those who wish to continue exploring the gospels before service, meet in the parlor
at 8:15 AM.
Bulletin Board Request
If we do not have your picture to add to our Parish Bulletin Board, please see Mary Allen and let her digital camera capture your wonderful picture!
School Supplies
We will be collecting school supplies beginning in the
month of June. I know that this seems early, but we are
being guided by the Diocese who needs the supplies to
pass on to children by mid August. They are also
guiding us on the content and kind of supplies needed.
Most of these items can be purchased at the dollar store
as well as stores like Target and big grocery store chains. Each full back pack is probably worth $30-40 so sharing a back pack with two or three other people is a good idea so that no one is taxed financially. Since the Diocese wanted a goal number forSt. Asaph's, we said that we would fill at least 10 backpacks.
If anyone does not want to take part in building a back
pack, but would rather contribute funds, send a check
into the office marked for "school supplies".
A parishioner has already donated the backpacks therefore here is a list of the needed supplies to fill the back pack:
5 Spiral Notebooks
1 Three Ring Binder w/Wide-ruled paper
2 pkgs. of Pencils
1 pkg. of colored pencils (1 pkg),
1 box of markers,
1 box of 24 crayons
1 pair of Scissors
1 pkg. of Erasers

5 glue sticks or 1 bottle of glue

Feed the Hungry. Grow Our Garden
Last year from a very small plot, we easily harvested bushels of tomatoes and green beans for Philabundance. We also had a few eggplants and peppers. This year Philabundance needs us to help feed more and more of our hungry neighbors and we are planning to expand our space and to grow more crops. You can join us to help dig, plant, mulch or to get on the watering and harvesting schedule.
Both master gardeners and total beginners are very
welcome. Watch the bulletin and E Message for dates. Speak to Margaret Hunting or Wendy Flegal for more
information.
ELDERNET of Lower Merion and Narberth
Hunger knows no boundaries. Eldernet of Lower
Merion and Narberth provides a range of services to
those in need living within Lower Merion Township. Now
that the holidays are over, their food cupboard is bare.
On the first and third Sundays, we will collect
nonperishable foods, paper products, cleaning supplies
and other dry goods not covered by food stamps to help
stock the Eldernet food cupboard, located in the white
building that shares the parking lot with Ludington
Library. Jane Carton, Nicky Garvan and Connie
Stelzenmuller will make the deliveries.
Storytime at Just Children
We continue to read stories to Just Children's Head
Start children on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am.
Carolyn Ramsey, Carolyn Langfitt, Anne Speyer,
Laura Breenan and Kathy Hubbard are presently
reading. Do you have time to be a story teller?
Contact Anne Speyer.
Food Cupboard Donations
Regarding food cupboard donations, (for ElderNet, North Light, etc.), some suggested items that we are currently in need of are cereal, rice, canned fruit, canned fish/meat, peanut butter and jellies.
"Provide-a-Ride"
Provide-a-Ride is in need of one or two more drivers to assist in driving members to church who otherwise would be unable to attend. This is a very flexible commitment involving 30 - 45 minutes of your time once a month. While you would be committed to a particular Sunday morning for driving, i.e. 3rd Sunday of each month, drivers "trade" Sundays as they need to, and alternates are available. The current riders are very prompt and very grateful, and live within 5 minutes of each other, so the driving time is minimal. If you feel able to participate in this project, please contact by email Sally Pearne or 215-848-4014. (It should also be noted there are no committee meetings for this service opportunity!)
