Patricia Siembora
January 6 through January 29, 2012
Textiles
Opening Reception: Friday, January 6, 6:00-8:00pm

Patricia Siembora has had an enjoyment with thread, yarn, cloth and creating throughout her life.  She enjoys weaving, sewing, silk screening and dyeing fabric. Her love of color, memorable images and the natural world are included in her creations. Recently she has created functional quilts and wall hangings.

The recent works starts with photographic images digitally printed onto cloth. This fabric is cut apart and sewn back together incorporating stripes or outlines of color using found or manipulated fabrics.

Trish Siembora received her B.F.A. in Crafts and M.A. in Teaching Art from the University of the Arts where she taught experimental costume and fabric printing after graduating. For the last twelve years she has taught elementary art at The Agnes Irwin School.

Sibylle-Maria Pfaffenbichler

“Can you hear the music, can feel the joy?”: Mixed-media paintings and Drawings
Opening Reception: Fri.,, Feb. 3, 2012, 6:00-8:00pm

Sibylle-Maria Pfaffenbichler writes the following about her life and work:
Can you hear the music, can you feel the joy? My quest is to captivate the exuberance and vitality of the American dance like Boogie-Woogie, the Lindy Hop and Rock n' Roll. Also the creators of the highly inspiring jazz music play a big role in my portfolio. American dance has been my main theme for the past 10 years.

I work in all media, one of my favorite tools is the charcoaled willow stick.

I was born and raised in Steyr, Austria, and came to the US as teenager. My art training started back in Austria as a kid with evening courses in Continuing Education, later on “Drawing” at the Art Students League in New York City, followed by a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)/State U. of New York, and advanced art studies at Long Island University, Southampton, NY.  My work was exhibited in solo and group shows in museums, galleries and unconventional places in New York City, the Hamptons of Long Island and Vienna, Austria.  For the past 3 years Philadelphia is my home.
