Holy Week and Easter at St. Asaph’s Church

Palm Sunday/Sunday of the Passion, March 25,

at 8:00 am our quieter, more reflective liturgy with Eucharist Blessing of the Palms and Holy Eucharist 10:00 am We will gather outside on the Labyrinth, weather permitting, for the blessing of the Palms and then process into the sanctuary for our celebration of the Eucharist.

Wednesday March 28, there is a quiet service of Tenebrae at 7:00 pm.

Maundy Thursday, March 29,

we will gather for a lasagna dinner at 6:00 pm with conversation around the telling of the Exodus. Our liturgy continues at 7:00 pm with the washing of feet, the celebration of the Eucharist, the stripping of the Altar and the official beginning of the Triduum, the Great Three Days.

Good Friday, March 30,

we will gather at 12:00 pm for a brief liturgy- 40 minutes or so – with the sanctuary open for prayer. At 7:00 pm there will be a full liturgy with the reading of the Passion according to John.

Please remember that your Good Friday offering will go to assist the work of the Episcopal Diocese in Jerusalem. Special envelopes will be available at the door throughout Holy Week.

Holy Saturday, March 31,

there will be a brief morning prayer at 8:00 am before the decorating and pre-Easter activities and preparation begin. The flower guild will begin immediately after the liturgy. 10:00 am to noon, all are invited to bring your eggs to decorate, candy to stuff the eggs for the egg hunt or to just enjoy the fellowship. Please come!

Saturday evening, The Great Vigil of Easter

begins at the bride’s door at 7:00 pm for the building of the fire. This liturgy allows us to hear the great story of God’s saving acts and concludes with the first Mass of Easter. Plan on about two hours of your time.

Sunday, April 1, the Day of the Feast of the Resurrection,

begins with the 8:00 am liturgy outside for the first part of the service, hopefully in the warmth of the morning sun. The Festival Eucharist begins at 10:00 am, with full choir. Easter Brunch and our popular egg hunt in the graveyard will follow the 10:00 am liturgy.
